Remembrance Project
The Remembrance Project was an effort to a build a permanent “living museum” online featuring the stories of those whose lives were forever changed by the signing of Executive Order 9066 by President Roosevelt on February 19, 1942. The order instigated indignities and injustices for over 285,000 people of Japanese ancestry residing in the U.S. and abroad. The project was conceived as a commemoration of the 70th anniversary of this historic event.
Stand Against Hatred
Hate incidents and crimes often go unreported. We are asking people to report incidences such as harassment and violence to standagainsthatred.org so that we can tell a more complete story about the racism and xenophobia directed toward Asian Americans.
Stop AAPI Hate
Encourage those who experience or witness acts of hate towards the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities to report an incident at our website. The reporting form is available in 15 languages, with more on the way. Reporting incidents helps us understand what is happening and allows us to continue to address anti-AAPI racism.
If you witness an act of hate, whether it be a racist joke online, a derogatory comment by a friend, or a refusal of service, say something. Indicate that such behavior is unacceptable to you. Speak with a manager in a store or restaurant if you witness others experiencing discrimination.
Viet Stories
Viet Stories: Vietnamese American Oral History Project at the University of California, Irvine actively assembles, preserves, and disseminates the life stories of Vietnamese Americans in Southern California. The project contributes to expanding archives on Vietnamese Americans with the primary goal of capturing first generation stories for students, researchers, and the community. Launched in 2011, Viet Stories is housed in the Department of Asian American Studies in the School of Humanities and collaborates with the UCI Libraries Southeast Asian Archive.
