Inviting community spaces are an important part of a vibrant society. And few places are as inviting as the Wilmington Memorial Library! Years of innovation and redesign by our hardworking staff have created useful and comfortable spaces at our Library — areas that are available for all to use and enjoy. Some of these beloved spaces include:

  • The Peggy Kane Reading Garden
  • Comfortable seating in the Library’s redesigned first floor
  • Our Storywalk® at Rotary Park
  • A Children’s Room enhanced with a mural created by award-winning author and illustrator Bob Shea

All these projects, and much more, would not have been possible without funding from the Friends following a successful Annual Appeal campaign!

This year’s Annual Appeal is in support of a new initiative in the Children’s Room. Our Library has received funding from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners in the form of a Mind in the Making grant. This award enables Library staff to purchase toys, furniture and games.` with the goal of enhancing the educational and social development of our youngest patrons. The grant provides guidelines for creating experiences based upon a scientific understanding of child development. The grant comes with funding, but also the expectation that the Library will match the award with community funding.

Your contribution to the 2024 Annual Appeal will support this important initiative. A creative and thoughtfully designed Children’s Room has the potential to provide a meaningful experience in young lives. Please join me in supporting that by donating to our 2024 Annual Appeal campaign!

Donations can be accepted online at the top of this page or you can mail a check to the library at 175 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington, MA 01887. Checks should be made out to “The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library.” A response card and a return envelope are enclosed for your convenience. Donations are tax deductible.
