The Wilmington Memorial Library (WML) is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of your library records in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 78, Section 7. Here are the ways WML collects, uses, and protect information when you visit wilmlibrary.org (“the website”).

1. Use of Google Analytics

To better understand how visitors use the website and to improve the digital services offered therein, Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc, is used for the following:

  • Information Collected: Google Analytics uses “cookies”—small text files placed on your computer—to anonymously collect standard internet log information and visitor behavior information.
  • Data Processing: The information generated by the cookies about your use of the website (including your IP address) is transmitted to Google. This data is used to evaluate visitors’ use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity for the WML.
  • No PII: We do not use Google Analytics to collect or track any Personally Identifiable Information (PII). It does not link, or seek to link, an IP address with the identity of a computer user.

2. Your Choices and Opt-Out

You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. Additionally, you can prevent Google’s collection and use of data by downloading and installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

3. Patron Confidentiality

In accordance with library ethics and state law, WML considers your intellectual pursuits confidential. To that end WML asserts the following:

  • Library Records: Information that reveals your identity or the materials you consult, borrow, or receive is not a public record.
  • Third-Party Disclosure: WML does not provide your personal information, such as email addresses, to third parties except as necessary for the provision of library services or as required by law.

Our website may contain links to other websites, such as those within the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) or third-party databases. Please be aware that WML is not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites.
