This is not a list of Deaf podcasts but rather a page to highlight the inherit inaccessibility of podcasts. Without transcripts for Deaf people to read, they are cut off from this source of media. Much like they were Podcast’s precursor: radio. The National Association for the Deaf has a lawsuit against some of the major players: https://www.nad.org/2021/12/14/lawsuit-challenges-inaccessibility-of-major-podcast-platforms/. As of February 2024, there has been not yet been any movement.
That said, in January of 2024, Apple started pushing transcriptions for their platform: https://podcasters.apple.com/support/5316-transcripts-on-apple-podcasts. Interestingly enough, Apple was not named in the NAD lawsuit.
It will be interesting to see if Apple sets a trend that forces the plaintiffs to invest in transcriptions too.
