Kids Storytime

Storytimes

The library offers a variety of drop-in and registration storytime programs.  Storytimes help build a foundation for a lifelong love of books and reading.  Kids will enjoy age appropriate books, songs, rhymes, movement activities and more!

Registration Storytimes

The library offers six-week registration storytime sessions during the fall, winter and spring for babies, toddlers, and 3, 4 and 5 year olds. 

Dates for the 2012-13 year

Session 1:  Week of September 10 – Week of October 15 (Registration begins August 23)

Session 2:  Week of November 5 – Week of  December 10 (Registration begins October 9)

Session 3:  Week of January 7 – Week of February 11 (Registration begins December 10)

Session 4:  Week of March 4 – Week of April 6 (Registration begins February 4)

Storytimes offered are:
Baby Times (Thursdays, 9:30-10 am)
This sharing program of songs, rhymes, games and picture books is for babies under the age of two years and their caregivers.   Siblings are welcome to participate if caregivers cannot attend without them.

 

Time for Twos (Thursdays, 10:30-11 am)
This fun program for two year-olds consists of books, songs, rhymes and more!  Parents and caregivers accompany the child into the story room and participate in the activities.

 

Storytimes for Three Year Olds (Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 9:30-10:00 am)
This structured storytime for three year-olds features books and other fun activities created around themes such as seasons, holidays, and animals.   If necessary, the caregiver may accompany the child during the early sessions.

 

Storytimes for Four and Five Year Olds (Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 10:30-11:00 am)
Children ages four, and five years and not yet attending kindergarten, are eligible for this storytime for the ready listener.  If necessary, the caregiver may accompany the child during the early sessions.

 

Drop in Storytimes

Family Drop-In Storytimes are held once a month on Saturdays and PJ Storytimes once a month on Mondays evenings during the school year.  The programs are geared to kids ages 2-6 and one or more adults.

Storytimes will be cancelled on days the Wilmington Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather.
