About the Friends
The Friends is a volunteer nonprofit organization with a simple mission: to promote public awareness of the library and to provide financial support for services and programs beyond the town’s budget. The library depends on the Friends’ financial support for library events, technology, furniture, and staff training. Visit our Facebook page for the latest Friends' news.

Join the Friends
Join the Friends to help make a good library a great library! Annual dues start at $5. All revenue from annual membership directly supports the library. Click here to join or pick up an application in the library or at the Book Store Next Door. 

Volunteer
Interested in helping the Friends? We need volunteers to: staff the Book Store Next Door, help with fundraising, and serve on the Executive Board. Apply online or pick up a volunteer application at the library or Book Store Next Door.

Book Store Next Door
The Book Store Next Door is a non-profit book store operated by Friends and volunteers. All proceeds benefit the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Friends Executive Board
The Friends is governed by an elected executive board. The board meets the 1st Tuesday of the month, September-June, at 7 pm at the library. The meetings are open to all interested in attending.

    In keeping with the spirit of "Everything Chocolate" during February, the Friends of the Library have put together a Chocolate Gift Basket. The basket not only contains a variety of chocolate treats but also a $100 Williams Sonoma gift card, a $25 Godiva gift card and a $25 Lindt gift card plus two chocolate cook books.  Tickets are for sale for $2 each or 3 for $5. The winner will be drawn on March 1st.

    Book groups may schedule a private shopping time for its members at the Book Store Next Door. Mint condition hardcover books are only $2, trade paperbacks $1 and mass market paperbacks 50 cents!  Email library director Tina Stewart tstewart@mvlc.org and she will put you in touch with someone from the book store who will meet with your group. The Book Store Next Door is located next to the library.  During January and February, the Book Store Next Door is open on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Donations of "gently" used books are also accepted at this time. All book store proceeds beneift the library.

    Stop by the Book Store Next Door for your holiday book shopping. You will find holiday cooking and craft books, children's Christmas stories and much more at half off the already low prices! There is something for everyone on your Christmas list at the Book Store Next Door. The Book Store will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm through December 15. The Book Store Next Door will be closed on Saturday December 22 and on Saturday December 29.

    The Friends of the Library will accept your bid on the Obama and Romney life size figures until Tuesday November 20 at 9 pm.  Highest bid takes home one or both of the 2012 presidential candidates.

    The results of the Friends of the Library Penny Vote are Obama $115.61 and Romney $104.24. All proceeds benefit the library. Thanks to all who voted!

    Clarice Ross is the winner of the Friends of the Library Red Sox gift basket. The gift basket raised over $1,000. Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket. All proceeds benefit the library.

    The Friends of the Library Book Store Next Door is open on Sundays from 11 am to 2 pm through August 26. The Book Store is also open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm.  Shop for your beach reads at bargain prices and support the library! Please note that the Book Store is closed on Wednesday July 4.

    The Friends of the Library have put together a Red Sox Gift Basket full of a variety of items for Red Sox fans including two tickets to for the Red Sox versus Detroit Tigers game on July 31st at 7 pm. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and can be purchased at the main service desk.  The drawing will be held on July 2.

    There will be lots of great bargains during the month of April when the Friends of the Library Book Store Next Door celebrates its 5th anniversary.   Starting April 4, and continuing until the end of the month, you can buy a non-fiction book and get one free. Starting April 11, all non-fiction and children’s books will be buy one and get one free. Starting April 25, everything in the Book Store Next Door is on sale-buy one, get one free! Everyone who stops by the store on Saturday, April 28 will get a special treat while they last. The Book Store Next Door is open on Wednesdays from 10 am to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm.
