The library is sponsoring Food for Fines from October 9 until November 21. You may clear any fines on your account by bringing in nonperishable food items to help supply the Wilmington Food Pantry. In the spirit of Food for Fines, it is recommended that the value of the food items be close to the amount of fines on your card.

New doors and windows will be installed at the library during the month of October. On Monday, October 1, please note that patrons will not be able to use the front entrance to the library while the new doors are being installed. At the end of the week, the back entrance will be closed while the new back doors are being installed. Following installation of the doors, the installation of the new windows will begin.

The Friends of the Library have put together a gift basket filled with a variety of items for Patriots fans including two tickets to the Patriots versus Houston Texans game on Monday, December 10, at 8:30. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5 and can be purchased at the main desk. All proceeds benefit the library. Winner will be drawn on November 1.

The library received 18 entries in the Wilmington Through Art Contest demonstrating incredible artistic talent. The three judges from the Wilmington Arts Council, Jane Crane, Marge Elia and Jean Chang, commented on the challenge of having to select the winners. The following are the winning entries:
First place: Autumn Path-Silver Lake by Philip Mackenzie
Second Place: The Gazebo on the Common by Angela Wang
Third Place: Wildwood Street Barn by Maureen Thorpe
Honorable Mention: The Jonathan Buck House by May DiPietro.

Stop by to see eighteen beautiful paintings depicting images of Wilmington that have been entered in the Wilmington Through Art Contest. The paintings will be on display through Saturday, September 22 when Wilmington Arts Council judges will select first, second and third place winners.

This year's Community Fair features the Town of Wilmington Information Table with representatives from various Town Departments on hand to answer questions. The Town Clerk's staff will be availabe to register voters. Town Manager Michael Caira and Assistant Manager Jeff Hull will be there from 10:30 am to 12 noon giving residents the opportunity to wish Mr. Caira well in his retirement and meet Mr. Hull, Wilmington’s newly appointed Town Manager.

In celebration of Wilmington’s 282nd anniversary of incorporation on September 25, 1730, the library is sponsoring “Wilmington Through Art Contest.” Entries must be hand produced art work and must represent Wilmington. Examples are Town Common, Silver Lake, town buildings, historical sites, etc. Click here for application.
