Teen Read Week has passed for another year, but that doesn't mean we're done. Brandy (the Teen Librarian) has been visiting classes at Wilmington High School and Wilmington Middle School and talking up some great books. Browse the middle school list or the high school list and see what sounds good!
We are very excited that Mackenzie the listening Scottie will be coming to the library monthly to listen to children read. Mackenzie will be at the library on October 29, November 26 and December 17 between 5 and 6 pm. Mackenzie is a great listener who loves to have kids of all ages read to him. Reading out loud to dogs is great way for kids to improve their reading skills. It helps kids build confidence to read to a nonjudgmental listener like Mackenzie. Mackenzie has been certified as a therapy dog by the Pets & People Foundation. Call the Children’s Department to sign up for a 15 minute session between 5 and 6 pm.
Thanks to the Boston Public Library and Internet Archive, Gerry O'Reilly's Wilmington history books are now available online. Titles include Silver Lake and Wilmington: A Retrospective. Click here to view the complete collection.

The library is sponsoring Food for Fines from October 9 until November 21. You may clear any fines on your account by bringing in nonperishable food items to help supply the Wilmington Food Pantry. In the spirit of Food for Fines, it is recommended that the value of the food items be close to the amount of fines on your card.
New doors and windows will be installed at the library during the month of October. On Monday, October 1, please note that patrons will not be able to use the front entrance to the library while the new doors are being installed. At the end of the week, the back entrance will be closed while the new back doors are being installed. Following installation of the doors, the installation of the new windows will begin.
