In response to the pandemic, WML transitioned many of its programs to the outdoors and it continues to look for new ways to bring the library into outdoor spaces. For the 2021 Annual Appeal, the Friends would like to support these efforts by raising funds for a StoryWalk® at Rotary Park.  StoryWalk® was created by Ann Ferguson in Vermont in 2007 with the help of Rachel Senechal, formerly of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.  StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and have become even more popular during the pandemic.

A StoryWalk® is a way for children to enjoy a story and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s picture book are displayed on signs along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the path, you are directed to the next page in the story.  The story will be changed seasonally.  The plan is for the StoryWalk® to begin at the playground and continue along the trail circling the pond.
